Bringing home your puppy soon?

Updated: Feb 17, 2022

Here are a few things to help your puppy settle in when you first bring them home:

Give them their own space. A crate or bed can be great for your puppy to relax in. Puppies need so much sleep so allowing them time away from you where they can sleep is so important.

Mental Enrichment: When you first bring your puppy home, they will spend lots of time in the house before they get their vaccinations. Mental Enrichment toys can build confidence, keep them entertained and stimulated and give an outlet for energy (which reduces biting behaviours)

Finally, be patient with them. They are learning and will make lots of mistakes. They may pee in the house or chew up your favourite socks but they don't know how to act yet. Prevent access to things you don't want chewed up and take them outside frequently to give them the chance to toilet outside. Keep an eye on them and if they start to get very bitey, they're probably tired so putting them in a pen or crate for a nap can help.
